My dear readers, we have A LOT of catching up to do! So shimmy into your tightest pair of Oooh la la Sassoon jeans (you know, like the ones you TOTALLY bought at the Glendale Galleria with Daddy’s credit card) Slip on those Wayfarers, crank up some Go-Go’s on your Sony Walkman and twist off the cap of that Bartles & Jaymes wine cooler you’ve been saving for this VERY moment- We’re living in the eighties baby!

But before I rev up the Delorean and whisk you back to the generation of Reagonomics, “Frankie Says Relax” T-shirts and when MTV actually stood for “MUSIC TELEVISION” (I know, must be a typo right?) You’re going to need a little background information first. My partner in crime on this totally awesome adventure is the blond bombshell singer of Sweethead, Miss Serrina Sims (code name “Whiskas”) “Whiskas?” you say? Let me explain: one night we were on another crazy adventure and I received a text from her simply saying, “The Whiskers” when she meant to say whiskey and somehow one thing led to another and I became “Friskies” and our nicknames were born forever! (Just nod your head like you understand and run fast in the other direction!)
On this fateful night, the two hot child’s in the city Whiskas and Friskies were feeling especially adventures and went downtown Julie Brown to check out Rio Del Valle’s new bar, The Monty and celebrate a friends birthday. Monty’s is a welcome escape from the outside grunginess of the streets of Los Angeles with glimmering gold covered ceilings and big leather booths you can get lost in for days- in other words, like, totally rad!
RM’s spirit of adventure was infectious and before you could say, “Gag me with a spoon “ Whiskas and Friskies were posing for photos in matching “Camp Beverly Hills” T-shirts and wacky sunglasses (hey, weren’t we supposed to be at a birthday party next door?) All the fun and dare I say “zaniness” aside, Robert not only runs a great (and reasonably priced) store, but he’s also an active member of the local street art community. His driving passion is to help fellow struggling local street and underground artists, often giving them their first opportunity to show their art on his gallery walls as well as teaching them how to market themselves and most importantly, giving them the encouragement and incentive to follow their he (art)! Just hearing all this makes me want to crank up Nena Cherry and do the Buffalo Stance!
If you’ve followed along with our adventures this far my ever so patient readers, well let me reward you with the following invitation to come join us next Thursday August 4th for the grand opening of Monty’s (sure to be a star studded event!) and a totally bitchin’ to the max “Melt’s in your mind, not in your mouth” group art show (featuring yours truly album inspired rock and roll art-special 80s edition) right next door at 2 Bad! Re-Fresh! It’s sure to put a smile on your face and guaranteed to give you a totally awesome adventure to the MAX!
Until we dance again, xoxo Miss Friskies!
