Jessicka Addams’ Little Grey Secrets

Jessicka Addams has a gift for meshing child-like whimsy with dark undertones in a way that can please and fascinate fans of both cute and creepy art. Her latest works, currently showcased at La Luz De Jesus Gallery under the title, “Little Grey Secrets” depict sweet, child-like figures masked, demure and seemingly spewing what’s hidden deep inside their tiny souls, capturing a feeling grown-ups can surely relate to.

At the opening party for La Luz’s popular group “Kitschen Sync” show, Addams’ somewhat smaller textural pieces were a highlight (the free tequila was pretty popular as well). She sure brought out a lot of fab familiar faces to the fete. Addams (who also led two popular rock bands Jack Off Jill and Scarling) had a ton of musician pals there including Chris Vrenna (Nine Inch Nails, Marilyn Manson) Tim Skold (Skold, Marilyn Manson) , Lisa Leveridge (Courtney Love), Samantha Maloney (Hole, Motley Crue, Peaches), Chantal Claret (Morningwood), Jimmy Urine (Mindless Self Indulgence) and her designer collaborator friends Jared Gold and Tarina Tarantino. Artists (not showing) in attendance included: Mark Ryden, Marion Peck, Joshua Petker, Morgan Slade, Roman Cho, Luke Chueh, Gary Baseman, Tomi Monstre, David Stoupakis, Lindsey Way, and Matthew Bone.

The show, which also includes painted and collage works by Alpha Lubicz, Sam Lubicz, Lou Beach, Walt Hall, Derek Harrison, Click Mort, Miso, Jasmine Worth, and Jose Rudolfo Loaiza, runs through Aug. 28. Go check it out. Oh, and buy a signed copy of my book, Los Angeles’ Best Dive Bars, in the book store while you’re at it!
