Eat Your Heart Out: Lusty/Lovey Music Mixes & Writing After Dark

We dubbed Valentines Day, “It’s Complicated” Day this year, because well… too complicated to explain here. We actually think listing these words as your Facebook relationship status only makes the situation more so (especially if you add a “with _____” tag), but we gotta admit the two little words are a nice, vague way of labeling a confusing, frustrating or otherwise undefined relationship. On-again-off-again BFs/GFs, bootie callers, sexters, missed message ex’s, social media sluts, flirty friends, platonic pals with potential … Even if you can deal with these — for many of us, a few at the same time — a holiday focused on love makes it rough.

As we’ve been doing since we started this blog, we made a music mix inspired by the month’s holiday. Because it is all so complicated, one would just not do. Here we list three separate playlists all available via Spotify.

CLICK THE PURPLE LINKS BELOW IF YOU ALEADY HAVE SPOTIFY. If you dont, you can sign up via the PLUG-IN below. Subscribe to our playlists when you do, and you’ll get the seasonal stuff and weekly setlists from our Moheak webshows too (including bonus tracks we program for the show but don’t always get to). Ahh, something that’s mercifully simple for once.

Definitely play setlist #1 when you click over to After Dark, the LA Weekly’s Adults Only Blog. The section just hired a bunch of new writers to jazz up its raunchy, often educational content, and yours truly is contributing too! So far we’ve had a lot of fun getting our journalistic freak on.
